Appointments
Booking somebody for a future date, and turning an appointment into a visit when they arrive.

Choose Reception → Appointments, or Book Appointment from a patient's profile.
Booking
Choose the patient, the department, and the date and time. A clinician can book the follow-up at the end of a consultation, which is the moment the patient is actually thinking about it.
The appointment shows on the patient's profile as Next Appointment, so whoever sees them next knows it exists.
When they arrive
Find the appointment and mark it arrived. This opens the visit for you and puts the patient in the queue with a ticket — you do not open a visit separately. Doing both creates two visits for one attendance.
Not arrived
An appointment nobody arrives for stays as it is. It is not deleted and does not quietly become nothing: the record that a patient was expected and did not come is worth as much as the record that they came.
Booking while offline
Appointments are booked on the machine in front of you, offline or not. The risk is the ordinary one of being disconnected: if the front desk and the consulting room are both booking into the same clinic while cut off from each other, they can overbook a slot. Neither machine can know about the other's booking until they speak.
Check the banner before booking into a tight clinic. If it is red, take the booking and confirm it later rather than promising a time you cannot see.
